SIR,

By means of your paper can I please air views of residents of Monmouth about the appalling lack of public toilets?

At the moment there is only the one in the market open as the one at the top of town has got a notice attached to the locked gates that there is a water problem within, this notice has been on there for about three weeks now.

Even when the toilets are working they are locked at 6pm daily, so where are people supposed to go?

At present the town is being visited by a lot of people, several coaches a day, families with babies and young children and not forgetting us old ones, because when we've got to go, we go.

Do you want us to go backwards in time when we used the gutters, behind hedges or even on the wheels of our cars? People would soon get booked for doing so.

There should be more toilets, not less. They should be open for all and for longer hours.
