Bridges Community centre are working in partnership with "Homemakers" in Abergavenny to collect any old or unwanted books for a social enterprise called "Bookdonors" which  trades in used books to help people, charities and our environment.  This is a great scheme and  provides flexible employment opportunities to people who find work generally difficult to obtain. 

They also support literacy development by giving away tens of thousands of free books.

How can you help? We all have old books at home that are collecting dust on the shelves, but we don't like to get rid of them as it seems a waste to throw them away or an effort to find a good home for them.  All of the books that are donated with this scheme are either re-cycled or re-used – none go to landfill and for every tonne of books that the Bridges Community Centre collects, they receive approximately £500!
