MADAM May I bring to your attention a burning issue proposed in Coughton. I understand that the Herefordshire Housing Association is planning to build houses on what is a flood plain topped with high voltage cables which will be some 20 ft above them. This is contrary to all the recommendations made recently by SAGE to the Government. Michael Jayne of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors says the Government should legislate to avoid any potential health risks from overhead high voltage power lines. It would seem to be utter madness to continue this exercise and the Herefordshire Housing Association, the Parish Council and the South Herefordshire Planning Officer should abandon their plans now before any more of our money is spent unnecessarily.
