ON Sunday evening, the spirit of Nashville came to the Savoy Theatre in Monmouth.

The event was organised by American singer/songwriter Jane Pearl, who has repeatedly performed at the BlueBird Cafe in Nashville, where the idea of songwriters performing "in the round" has been established for many years.

The evening featured local artists as well as others from further away. Ten songwriters, including Jane, Stewart Earl and Rob and Rose Morris, were on one stage in a semicircle facing the audience, with each artist allowed 2-3 songs in rotation.

This allowed for a great variety in the type of song and the style of performance.

The event was very well attended, especially as it was the first of it's kind, with all monies after expenses going to the Nepal Earthquake Appeal.
