TOURISM businesses across Monmouthshire are being encouraged to apply for a new grant scheme designed to improve accessibility and ensure more people can enjoy everything the county has to offer.

Monmouthshire County Council has launched the Visitor Accessibility Improvement Grant for private enterprises, offering funding of up to £10,000 for projects that improve access for visitors across the county.

The scheme is funded by the UK Government’s Local Growth Fund in Wales and aims to make Monmouthshire a destination which can be enjoyed by everyone.

Previous Shared Prosperity Fund grant funding from Visit Monmouthshire supported the installation of a hearing loop in Monmouth’s Savoy Theatre and accessible improvements to Gilwern Picnic Area along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.

Monmouthshire County Council has also championed accessible tourism through its own facilities. Gilwern Activity Centre offers inclusive outdoor experiences such as adapted cycling, all-terrain wheelchairs and a wheelchair abseil ramp.
