Monmouthshire Council has been urged to follow the suit of neighbours, Torfaen, after recent figures revealed a scheme helped it plant over 8,000 trees.

Through a joint effort by Bron Afon and Torfaen, there have been 8,500 trees planted there, with Peter Fox MS, Member of the Senedd for Monmouth, urging the council here to sign up.

Mr Fox said, “I commend the efforts of those involved in this scheme that has seen so many trees planted.”

“It will go a long way in enhancing our communities and brightening up the environment for us all to enjoy.”

Monmouthshire Council recently affirmed its commitment to environmentalism by spending £18,500 on a swift tower at County Hall.
