In the the last weekend of November, members of the Monmouth and Coleford Tae Kwon Do clubs travelled to Telford's International Arena for the British Championships.

Both clubs came away from the prestigious event with medals, despite tough competition from more than 1,500 competitors.

Josh Smith became the Pee Wee British champion when he took gold for sparring and Sebastien Haggett took gold and the British champion title for sparring in the Junior Heavyweight category, as well as silver for patterns.

Darren Woods became the men's heavyweight British champion, also for sparring.

Matthew Bristow took a bronze medal for sparring in the black belt cadet male category, which was another tremendous result.

All members who took part in the tournament performed well but the competition was tough, with so many chasing a medal.

Instructor Tony Farr was delighted with the final result, describing 2010 as being "exceptional" in terms of competition wins.

Both clubs attended several major tournaments throughout the year, resulting in a good overall medal haul and three British champions.

Tony also defended his own title in June to remain world champion for a second time.

This was the last tournament of the year but training will continue as normal.
