THREE Wye oarsmen made a giant splash when they raced to Monmouth Rowing Club's first ever British open title.

Louis Paterson, Tom Penny and Alex Butler were on board the winning men's quadruple scull with Hereford's Jamie Coombes (pictured above), shocking the rest of the six-boat final field to take gold at Glasgow's Strathclyde Park.

Just 40 minutes later, Paterson and Coombes were on the podium again adding U23 double sculls silver, while Louise Hart made it a medal hat-trick for the Monmouthshire Building Society-sponsored club.
