A FIRM of solicitors based in Monmouth has contributed its time and expertise to help raise money for Will Aid.

Gwyn James Solicitors in Agincourt Square donated £640 to the Will Aid scheme that helps fund work for nine charities with participating solicitors across the country drawing up wills for people. Instead of charging a fee, the will-makers are invited to donate to charity instead.

The nine charities supported by Will Aid are ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF and Trocaire.

The scheme is run each November and is designed to encourage people to ensure they have a properly drafted will, as well as supporting charity.

Last campaign, the Will Aid scheme raised almost £1.75m and helped more than 23,000 to make their will.

Will Aid campaign manager, Shirley Marsland, said: "Will Aid has made such a real and positive difference to those in need of a hand up over the years.

"This would not have been achievable without the hard work of our enthusiastic solicitors and the generosity of the clients they have helped to make a will.

"I would like to thank all the solicitors and will-makers in the area who took part and donated so much.

"I am constantly amazed by the support that solicitors give to the scheme and the work that they put into it to raise such an impressive amount."

The scheme will run again in November this year. For more information, visit http://www.willaid.org.uk">www.willaid.org.uk
