THE Senior Section of Monmouth Golf Club held a supper dance in the clubhouse on Saturday, February 17th.

After a splendid meal dancing followed to the music of the 1940s and 1950s, making use of today's modern equipment in the shape of CDs.

Apologies were given for the lack of a big band, but this did not deter members from getting to their feet to strut their stuff. With several couples jitterbugging and jiving there were no heart attacks but, no doubt, there were a few aches and pains the following morning.

Thanks must be expressed to everyone who paricipating in making it such an enjoyable evening, with special thanks to Seniors' Captain John Biggadike whose idea it was and who handled the organisation. Hopefully a similar evening will be arranged in the near future.

With March soon to be upon us it is hoped that the weather will take a turn for the better - it has been a depressing winter for golfers.

The ladies mark the beginning of their competitive season with a 12 hole competition and Spring Lunch on March 8th and towards the end of the month friendly matches commence for all sections of the Club.

Following a successful Burns Supper recently the next item on the social calendar is a Welsh Night on March 3rd. During the day a match hs been arranged between Welsh and English members - it is to be hoped that the encounter will be more closely fought than the recent match at the Millennium Stadium!
