THE Monmouth community came together on Sunday September 14 to celebrate the ACE festival, to help raise awareness of climate change and provide a place with safer sustainable living.
ACE stands for Action on Climate Emergency, they are a community group which responds to the challenges of climate change by bringing people together.

They have hosted events, projects, shared information with local groups and so we are all aware as a collective community to make a difference in our future.
They were founded as part of Monmouth Town Council Partnership and are managed by residents in the area.

The group first started in 2019 when Monmouth Town Council declared a climate change emergency and have since been a group in partnership Monmouth Town Council.
Despite a storm approaching, the event was accompanied by members of the community holding many activities for many people to enjoy.
The activities included:
- Cardiff Cycle Workshop where you could bring your bike along to get it roadworthy.
- Smoothie Bike Challenge where you could race on an exercise bike and blend your own smoothie.
- MCC Reuse shop where you could find out how items which are thrown away get re-used
- Repair Cafe- This allowed people to repair their household items for free
- Community Fridge- The Community Fridge allowed food to be distributed which would otherwise be wasted.
- Benthyg- A library where you could borrow almost anything.
- T-shirt painting- There was an opportunity to bring along your own T-shirt and add colourful prints to it and stall and activities.

The day also included a youth charter presentation by students from local schools including Haberdashers’ Monmouth School, Monmouth Comprehensive School, Overmonnow, Raglan, Osbaston, Kymin View, Llandogo and Usk of how we can create a sustainable, greener future.
