SIR,

I would like to complain about the state of Monmouth lately.

I have walked around the area from the top tunnels down towards Wonastow Road and have had quite a lot of trouble with the state of the footpaths, and especially with the verges on the link road.

There are no footpaths on the link road and the verges are very overgrown.

Don't the council cut the grass anymore?

The footpath that runs from King Henry V Drive around the back of Carbonne Close has also become very overgrown. There additionally seems to be a problem in that area with fly tipping.

Monmouth is a small town wishing to get visitors to the area.

It is no wonder they don't come in the first place when the first thing they see as they come over the top of the tunnels is badly maintained flower beds and grass verges that are overgrown and covered in litter.

I'm sure if I was a visitor I would not come back to the area after being greeted by such a sight.

Mr A Jones
