Monmouth's 'Green' Mayor Anne Were and other visitors shared Christmas celebrations at Treenergy's Monmouth-based factory and showroom with mulled wine, mince pies and roast chestnuts.
Business owner and Transition Town member David Thorp explained how wood byproducts from sawmills and joineries are turned into an efficient fuel for open fires, stoves and range cookers.
"Some 10 million tons of sawdust and other wood material ends up in landfill each year", David said, "with companies having to pay for costly disposal, we help local companies to reduce costs and help protect our environment by taking the sawdust from them".
