THE Chepstow and Cwm Garw Male Voice Choirs will be raising the roof at the Drill Hall in Chepstow on Saturday 21st February with a concert in aid of the British Red Cross.

The singers will be joined onstage by special guest, Jack Lythaby, a 15 year old Tenor Horn player from Gloucestershire.

Jack first started playing the Tenor Horn when he joined the Lydbrook Training Band in 2010. In December 2014, Jack was delighted to learn that he has been accepted into the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, a prestigious organisation supporting young brass players from all over the country.

Stuart Vigus from Chepstow Male Voice Choir said: "The choir is a well-respected and popular local group, keenly supported by our community.

"We take great pleasure in singing and regularly give concerts to support charities. We hope the Red Cross event will be a great success and enjoyed by those who attend.

"We also encourage any gentlemen who enjoy singing to come along to rehearse with the choir. There is plenty of camaraderie and a very friendly group is waiting to welcome you."

Sarah Austin, senior community fundraiser at the Red Cross in South Wales, said: "We are very grateful to the event organisers, the members of the Chepstow and Cwm Garw Males Voice Choirs and, of course, Jack Lythaby, for holding this event and raising money for the Red Cross.

"Events such as this are a really important source of fundraising for the Red Cross and will ensure we can continue to support vulnerable people in crisis in the local area.

"That's why we're encouraging as many people as possible to come along and listen to these talented singers and musicians. We need their support and this promises to be a fantastic evening."

Jack will perform alongside the choirs from Chepstow and the Garw Valley, near Pontycymer, for an evening of entertainment. The music begins at 7.30pm and tickets cost £8, £6 for concessions, with all proceeds going to support local Red Cross services.
