A CHEPSTOW Theatre group attended the Rose Bowl Awards, winning Best Publicity for one of their recent performances.
The Rose Bowl Awards recognises amateur and community across Bristol and the Southwest, celebrating everything from performance and design to marketing and publicity.
The awards have been presented annually since 1963 and are nominated by a panel of judges who are chosen for their qualifications and experience who have a background in the theatrical industry.
The Rose Bowl Awards is well regarded within the regional theatre community and it attracts entries from a wide range of theatre groups.
Chepstow Perform’s production of Monty Python’s Spamalot was supported by a social media campaign designed to give audiences a behind-the-scenes look at rehearsals, while also leaning into the Monty Python-style humour. The dates for the show were in August at Wyedean School.
The theatre group have showcased a range of previous productions, including: Shrek the musical, Legally Blonde, Beauty and the Beast.
“Winning the Rose Bowl for Best Publicity was incredibly special for us. As a community theatre group based in Chepstow, we put a huge amount of care into making our shows welcoming, creative, and accessible,” said Stephanie Dean, at Perform Chepstow.
This was a huge success for the theatre group, having gained traction far beyond the ‘local’ audience and reaching over 1.2 million views online.
It was also a huge achievement for the group as a volunteer-run, community-based theatre production company and it highlights the unwavering amounts of effort they put in from both on the stage and all the rehearsals which go alongside.
“That extends to how we share our work with audiences. To see our Spamalot campaign reach so many people, and then be recognised with a regional theatre award, was a real boost for everyone involved,” added Stephanie.”
