The new football season might have only just got underway but already some of us have realised that playing Britain's national sport is more fun than watching – and if you are one of those millions of people who's side is set for a struggle then help is at hand.

Leisure Leagues, Europe's largest provider of small sided football, run a league at Monmouth Leisure Centre on Monday and according Media Manager, Adam Matthews, now is the perfect time for teams to register.

"The start of the football season is a time for great anticipation and excitement," Adam said. "But then for most of us, our teams disappoint – and speaking as a Kidderminster Harriers fan, I know this only too well!"

"That doesn't stop us loving football, though and we are encouraging teams from Monmouth to join the leagues and show your heroes how it's done," Adam challenged.

Joining the league is easier than ever with teams able to register straight away on the brand new website, with any team who registers now receiving free kit and free entry, a saving of nearly £300.

Meanwhile, Splitters were yet again in fine goalscoring form this week, staying a point clear at the top of the table with a fine 8-2 victory over Game On.

Mid table Creaking Joints were also in fine fettle this week, finding it plain sailing against SS Memorial, easing to a 4-2 victory.

Elsewhere there were wins for Redbrook Rovers and MCN. Anyone who wants to join the leagues in Monmouth can do so by ringing 0845 230 2340.
