Ex-Monmouth Comprehensive School pupil Karis Jones is set to tackle Ben Nevis for an Alzheimer's charity.
Karis, 22, a trainee solicitor living in Swansea will take the fight against dementia to the highest point in Britain as part of a fundraising effort for the Alzheimer's Society.
Karis hopes to raise £1,000 by taking part in the Ben Nevis challenge from 20th to 22nd May.
Ben Nevis, Gaelic for 'Mountain of Heaven', stands at 4,409 feet (1,343m) above sea level.
Karis will scale its heights to raise funds to support the 750,000 people in the UK who have a form of dementia.
Karis said: "I decided to take part in this challenge for the Alzheimer's Society because it is a charity very close to my heart."
