SIR,
I was very interested in the news that St. Mary's Mission Room, St. John Street, may be renovated. I attended St. Mary's Sunday School in this building in the early thirties under the guidance of two sisters who kept a boarding house in Glendower Street.
I used it again at a later date when it became a youth club for children who had been confirmed.
One of the attractions was a full size Billiard Table which is now in the Masters' Common Room at Monmouth School. The Youth Club was run by one of St. Mary's Curates namely Rev. Basil Lowther Clark who made a name for himself nationally as an authority on Church Architecture. I remember we gave him a celebratory supper of baked beans when he left Monmouth.
