TEAMS from Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls (HMSG) and Monmouth School competed in the Rotary Youth Speaks competition last Wednesday (21st January) at the Shire Hall. The annual competition aims to give young people a chance to become confident public speakers. Perhaps inspired by the magnificent surroundings, the girls were on top form and won both the intermediate and senior competitions. Adjudicator Graham Milnes, president of the South Wales Speakers Club, commented on the high standards and quality of the young people taking part and said that "they could be proud of their achievements". The HMSG students now go on to compete against teams from South West England in the district competition at Maisemore on Saturday 7th February.
