Goodrich Cricket Club's indoor team 'The Winter Slayers' have started the Herefordshire Indoor League with two great victories.

With very little indoor experience in the team, the Slayers' first game was against Brockhampton.

Goodrich were put into bat and reached 118 for three in their 12 overs, with A Evans 29 not out, R Bastable 26 not out and J O'Brien making 17.

In the second innings, Brockhampton were held to 93 for three with the help of a few minus 10s for hitting the roof.

Bastable also starred with the ball, picking up one for 23 from three. O'Brien picked up one for 12 from two.

The second game of the evening was against Bromyard 1st VI.

This time the Slayers bowled first and managed to restrict Bromyard to 110 for five.

H Porter had the best bowling figures with one for 19 off three. Bastable picked up one for 23 off two and N Dunford again made the opposition hit the roof.

Goodrich were made to work hard for their runs but with a solid foundation and retirements from J O'Brien on 28 and H Porter on 25 and then some excellent running from Bastable (15 not out) and J Jarrett (14 not out), Goodrich managed to get to the last ball needing four to win.

The Bromyard bowler felt the pressure and bowled a wide, leaving Goodrich needing three to win which Bastable confidently did, finishing off a great first attempt at indoor cricket.

The next league games will be on 6th February but Goodrich Cricket Club will be running some indoor nets and indoor cricket practice in the new year.
