Ross Sunday XI travelled to Monkswood on July 29th and were put in to bat on a wicket that offered every assistance to the bowler. They were very soon in trouble, indeed, by the 14th over, half the side were out for 39. Thankfully the sixth wicket pair of opener Jack Evans and Sebastian Warwick took stock of the wicket and batted accordingly. As the wicket gradually got easier in the hot sun, the youngsters put on a pleasing-to-watch 126 run partnership before Seb was stumped for an excellent 87. Young Jack (55) continued to help the score along and was deservingly rewarded with his maiden fifty, well greeted by his colleagues. Ross were finally all out for 199. Monkswood's first wicket fell in the 5th over with the score on 21, Ross had to wait until the 25th over for their next wicket, Roberts and Charles having made a 90 run stand before Roberts was caught on the square leg boundary by Dallance Bevan off Robbie Stanford. Monkswood were then 111 for 2. The re-introduction of Gabriel Warwick saw the third wicket fall with the dismissal of Charles in the 31st over. Monkswood now needed 61 off 9 overs. Three more wickets fell in the next eight overs and Monkswood had graduated to 190 for 6, needing ten to win off the last over. Andrew Tingle was given the task of stopping them and despite an early wide, three dot balls and only four runs from the bat meant young Andrew only conceded 5 runs. Ross had won.
