Glorious warm spring sunshine greeted over 100 visiting golfers to Monmouth Golf Club on Saturday March 21, to play in an Open Event offering stunning prizes, with the winner bagging a free 12-month Platinum Member Package.

The 18-hole course was well-presented to showcase what the club has to offer potential new members, considered by many to be the prettiest course in Wales.

The visiting golfers came from an array of clubs, with around 15 represented on the day, many of whom were playing the challenging course for the first time. The feedback from visitors was fantastic, with many committed to returning with friends and societies in the future, whilst others signed up on the day to become new members. It is hoped to run another promotional event later in the year to attract more members to one of the oldest golf clubs in Wales.

Monmouth Golf Club Captain, Rob Pilot, said: “We are immensely proud of our club and course and wanted as many fellow players as possible to experience it for themselves. The success of the event was largely down to Ollie Etheridge and his greenkeeping team for all their hard work in preparing the course for the day.

“I’m also indebted to the army of club members who volunteered to be course marshals, to welcome visitors and guide them round the challenging course. It highlighted just how passionate we are about our club and demonstrated what a special vibe there is about the place.”

Ladies Vice-Captain and chief event organiser, Suzy Mills, said: “It has been a pleasure to work with the management team to showcase our unique offer and promote our wonderful club. The positive feedback from visitors has been fantastic and we look forward to welcoming our new members and all future visitors.”
