A CAMPAIGN to raise £40,000 for a Magor three-year-old to walk unaided has reached the half way mark.

The campaign has harnessed support from across the county with skydives, coffee mornings and car washes raising funds for Ruby Atkins.

Ruby has been diagnosed with bilateral cerebral palsy meaning her ability to walk unaided is restricted.

Ruby is need of Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) treatment to reduce spasticity in her legs. The operation, combined with physiotherapy, is designed to enable her to walk unaided.

Ruby's parents, Antony and Rachael Atkins, said: "We continue to be overwhelmed at how much effort and support the local community have shown by helping us raise this huge amount of money to give Ruby a better chance of walking.

"Ruby is now in school nursery five times a week and the staff at Little Tigers, Rogiet have been brilliant.

"We're so proud of how well she is developing and with the progress she has made over the last few months."

Ruby's parents are looking for more people to get involved in fundraising for their daughter and are asking people across the county to help them with organising events for the tot.

An afternoon tea has also been arranged at Redwick Village Hall for Sunday 22nd June.
