Spirit of Monmouth Running Club would like to congratulate all participants in the second Annual Monmouth Santa Fun Run, which took place on Sunday.
The festive family event benefited from a break in the rain, starting on time at 10am under blue skies and sunshine, through the arch of the famous Monnow Bridge.
The event was started by 10-year-old Elliott Kramer, from Redbrook, who set the runners off by ringing Santa's bell. Elliott won the opportunity to start the Fun Run when his drawing of Santa on the Monnow Bridge was chosen as the winning entry in the 'Santa Starter' Competition that ran in The Beacon.
Organizers were delighted to see over 250 entrants participating in the event, in a wide range of festive fancy dress, including plenty of Santa's, who were accompanied by many other Christmas characters, including fairies, elves, reindeer, presents and even a tree!
This year's run was in aid of Ty Hafan Children's Hospice, based in South Wales and the new Macmillan Renton Cancer Unit, based at Hereford Hospital.
