THE Boat House Gift Shop and Gallery was severely affected after floodwater swept through the pop-up shop on Monnow Street destroying many items.

This included a framed painting designed by artist Melissa Coultas, which was found floating in the debris of the aftermath of Storm Claudia.

The painting was destroyed, soaked in flood water and debris, thinking it might be unsalvageable but instead of discarding it the team decided to do something positive.

The painting is now part of a sealed charity auction, with all the proceedings going directly towards artists whose work was lost in the flood.

Visitors are able to view the painting in store and submit a confidential bid. The winner will be announced on Monday, December 22.
