A businessman whose father has diabetes is preparing to take on five fitness feats in six weeks in aid of leading health charity Diabetes UK.

Ray Morgan, of Usk, is set to take on a 10k run, two half marathons, a 40-mile bike race and the Athens Classic Marathon in Greece while raising funds for Diabetes UK.

The 29-year-old will do the Cardiff 10k on Sunday 12th September, the Wales Sportive 40-mile bike ride in Tenby on Saturday 25th September, the Wales Half Marathon in Tenby just a day later on Sunday 26th September and the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 17th October.

He will then travel to Greece to complete the 2,500th anniversary Athens Classic Marathon on Sunday 31st October.

Ray was initially going to do the fitness challenges without raising money as he had raised money for charity by doing the London Marathon in April this year.

However, he decided to raise money for charity when people offered to sponsor him.

He chose to raise money for Diabetes UK as his father Bryan Morgan has had type one diabetes, which happens when the body stops making insulin, for 20 years come October.

Ray, an auto-electrician who runs his own company, said: "I really wanted to do the Athens Classic Marathon this year as it is the 2,500th anniversary of the original marathon.

"I wasn't going to do it for charity but people said 'We want to sponsor you'.
