Two Monmouth firefighters were recognised for their devotion to duty.
Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Huw Jakeway QFSM, on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, gave Crew Managers (CM) William Ayre and Wayne Vaughan their Long Service and Good Conduct awards at Monmouth Fire and Rescue Station on Tuesday , August 10.
On awarding the two local firefighters, CFO Huw Jakeway said: ‘It was a privilege and a pleasure to present both CM Ayre and CM Vaughan with their well-deserved awards. They have both served their communities of Monmouth and South Wales with commitment, dedication and professionalism and I thank them for this, I also know that our communities value the service they provide day in day out.
CM William ‘Dave’ Ayre who joined the service in July 2000, and CM Vaughan who joined the service in September 1999 were both extremely grateful to receive the awards alongside their colleagues and are looking forward to continuing their journey within the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
Both were awarded their honours alongside their crew and celebrated by reminiscing old memories and acknowledging their achievements.
Station Manager Darren Cleaves said they have both displayed commitment, professionalism and dedication to their local community over their 20 years of service, “if anyone is interested in joining please call into our training session on Tuesday evening between 6.30pm-8.30pm”, he added
