Ogi, Wales’ fastest-growing broadband company, has announced their ultra-fast, full-fibre broadband network will be available to residents and businesses in Monmouth.

The engineering work, which is due to start this month, across Monmouth, will create an all-new fibre optic cable network throughout the town. That means that homes and local businesses will very soon benefit from one of the best broadband experiences anywhere on the planet. This is just the start of Ogi’s mission to take their real full fibre broadband to the whole of Wales for better experiences, better opportunities and better lives.

Councillor Sara Jones, cabinet member for economy and deputy leader of Monmouthshire County Council said: "As a County Council, we are keen to capitalise on the provision of a high speed, first class digital infrastructure, to deliver economic growth, wealth creation and increased productivity and GVA for the county and the country. We have been raising the issue of poor broadband connectivity with the Welsh Government and private broadband companies for a number of years, as it is our ambition to be in the vanguard of rural broadband connectivity in Wales.

"Having been proactively encouraging broadband providers to install full fibre broadband infrastructure in the County, we were thrilled to hear that having already started their engineering work in Abergavenny, Ogi now plans to create an all new fibre optic cable network in Monmouth too. We look forward to hearing more announcements about their wider roll out plans for the County in due course."

Broadband speeds in the Monmouthshire town are not what people and businesses truly deserve - that is where the digital transformation for Wales begins. Full fibre broadband is faster, more reliable and more sustainable than traditional services and Ogi are, accelerating the pace of the roll out across south Wales and transforming the digital landscape for generations to come..

Ogi’s offering is ultrafast and ultra reliable - up to 900 Mbps. To achieve this the company has already laid 100km of cutting-edge fibre cables across south Wales. The announcement marks the start of more engineering work to extend this network. "We are proud to be adding Monmouth to the list of Ogi towns. Our friendly team and engineers are looking forward to meeting local residents in this thriving town as they get to work and we encourage everyone to find out more and pre-register to be among the first to be connected" said Sally-Anne Skinner, chief revenue officer at Ogi.

Ben Allwright, CEO at Ogi said, "We’re continuing to be 100% committed to helping every Welsh community build back better." He added, "everyone prospers when brilliant broadband delivers real opportunities, resilience and sustainability, and we have big ambitions to see Wales flourish. Monmouth is another step on that journey and we’re excited to keep contributing to a more connected Wales."
