A much loved two-day festival that has become a staple in the summer calendar has released its schedule of events.

Monmouth Medieval Festival, organised and funded by Monmouth Town Council, will be taking place on July 4 and 5th July between 10 am – 4.30 pm.

This year’s festival line up will see The Freeman of Gwent, Angevins, The Free Company of Aquitaine and Tom Livingstone, former stonemason of Chester Cathedral, sharing their expertise to name just a few!

Vauxhall Fields, as in previous years, will host the reenactment camp, with the schedule the same for both Saturday and Sunday:

10.30 am – 11.15 am – Dressing a knight, 11.00 am & 3.15 pm – Origami, 11:45 am – 12:15 pm & 2.15 pm - 2.45 pm – Masonry and lime slaking, 12.30 pm – 1.00 pm & 2.45 pm – 3.15 pm - Falconry Flying Displays, 1.30 pm – 2.00 pm – Peasant to Lord, 2.30 pm – 2.50 pm – Children in the middle ages, 3.15 pm – 4.00 pm – Arming a knight, 4.00 pm – 4.30 pm – Dressing an archer and archery display

Axe Throwing (payable) will also be available throughout the day on Sunday, and there will be a wealth of traders displaying and selling arts, crafts and refreshments.

Monmouth Castle will host: 11.15 am - Sword Demonstration, 12.00 pm – Castle Tour, 1.30 pm – Kids sword school

Monnow Bridge will be open for tours 10 am- 12.00 pm and 1.00 pm – 3.00 pm.

The Savoy Theatre will be hosting special screenings of Robin Hood Prince of Thieves at 2.00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

As if that wasn’t enough, there will be a food market in Monmouth in the Cattle Market Car Park on Saturday 4th July with mouthwatering local food and produce to sustain you throughout the event!
