THE Bridges Community Shop is celebrating a significant milestone this month, marking ten years of serving the local community from its home in Monmouth.

Since opening in 2016, the shop has become a familiar fixture on the high street, providing affordable, pre-loved goods while raising vital funds to support the work of Bridges across Monmouthshire.

The shop’s success has been built on the generosity of local donors, loyal customers and a dedicated team of volunteers, many of whom have given their time and energy over a number of years.

The anniversary comes at an important time for Bridges, which continues to recover from the devastating flooding that forced the closure of Drybridge House in November 2025.

While restoration work continues at the charity’s headquarters, the shop has remained an important source of support and connection for the local community.

To mark the occasion, volunteers will be presented with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contribution to the shop’s success over the past decade.

Ann Rosser, Bridges Trustee for the Community Shop, said:

“The shop is about much more than raising funds. Over the last ten years it has become a place where people volunteer, make friends, learn new skills and feel part of something bigger.

“Reaching ten years is a fantastic achievement and one that belongs to everyone who has donated an item, made a purchase, volunteered their time or supported us along the way. We’re incredibly grateful to every one of them.”

Over the past decade, thousands of donated items have found new homes through the shop, helping to reduce waste while generating income that supports Bridges’ work with older people, families, disabled people and communities across Monmouthshire.

As Bridges looks towards reopening Drybridge House, the charity hopes the shop will continue to play an important role in supporting both the organisation and the wider community for many years to come.
