PLANS to build an eco house in the front garden of a Monmouth home have been rejected by Monmouthshire County Council.

The application, which was for a house at 19 Dixton Close, had previously been recommended for refusal by Monmouth Town Council, although county planning officers thought it should be approved.

The planned house, which would have become 16 The Gardens, was set to have solar roof panels to provide hot water.

Objections raised by town council planners and neighbours included increased traffic, as the road is already a bus route used by learner drivers and people on the school run.

There were also fears raised about the proposed building overlooking other properties and a precedent being set for development in front gardens.

Welsh Water had indicated that there was already an overloading of the sewerage system in the area.
