SIR,

Am I alone in my disbelief at the jaw-dropping decision by town councillors to recommend refusal for the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof of Bridges, on the grounds that they may be visible from a block of flats.

What kind of planet are they living on, where some misguided concern for the past is deemed more important than care for the future.

Bridge's is a charitable trust, doing vital work for the community, always strapped for cash, and this is a great opportunity for them to back the government initiative to reduce our carbon footprint, and even generate some income, which in the long run benefits us all.

Would any planning members care to comment?
