SIR, I apologise for my persistence in this matter but your article suggesting that Monmouth residents are now able to submit orders for fibre broadband is not entirely true. Although it has been eight months since the initial announcement that the Monmouth exchange was fibre enabled, areas of Wyesham (if not all of the area to the east of the river) still cannot submit orders for this service. I am loathed to assume that the powers that be consider that we do not qualify for the same level of service as Osbaston, the town and Overmonnow. ADSL services can be very patchy at times, mobile telephone reception and access to 3G is almost non-existent from some providers and terrestrial television reception in some locations in Wyesham does not exist. A hard luck story, perhaps, but this is yet another example of the digital divide that time and again is swept under the ministerial carpet because the economic gains do not show on the balance sheet of cost benefit.
