MADAM, Your readers will have read elsewhere in this edition that during our recent visit to Carbonne to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the twinning, we were delighted to learn that the mayor and his deputy, plan to visit Monmouth next year. Deputy mayor, Ali Benafra, told us that he visited Monmouth aged 10, in 1977, as a member of a young football team who came to play in a mini football tournament here. He would like to get back into contact with his 1977 host family. I hope that your readers may be able to help us to identify this family but we do not have much to go on. Ali can only remember that they had three boys of about his own age (10 in 1977) and he thinks one of them was called Jimmy. I imagine that they must have been members of Monmouth Lads club.
