A MONMOUTH man has been spared a driving ban, but must pay a fine after admitting a speeding offence.

Michael Gardiner, 55, of Cinderhill Street, pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court to driving 58 miles-per-hour on the M4 Junction 19 Eastbound, exceeding the temporary speed restriction of 50 miles-per-hour set by a Local Traffic Order.

Tom Paterson, mitigating, told the court a driving ban would significantly impact Gardiner and his family.

Gardiner was instead given three penalty points endorsed on his licence and fined £166. He was also ordered to pay £130 in costs and a £66 surcharge.
