Sir,

I would like to answer Fred Jones who wrote a couple weeks ago about the building and planning in Monmouth.

I think he is wrong; the County Council are doing a great job and the right thing by letting monstrous and unsightly buildings in and around Monmouth.

Who is he to say we want to keep Monmouth individual and aesthetically pleasing? It is a great idea for more and more people to come into a town that cannot support them, to develop housing on flood plains, not on brown field sites.

The lesson of the past few months from around the country where flooding has occurred is rubbish, the council is always correct and they're there to look after us.

They do a fantastic job, they listen to the concerns of the majority of the local people and take their side every time.

Lets have more and more unsightly developments; after all progress is a good thing.
