Following the effects that Storm Ciara has had on the Wye Valley these last few days, I am even more concerned about the lack of woodland and tree management carried out on either side of the A466, Wye Valley road.

Apart from the Woodland Trust sites, it seems that none of the other owners of woodland appear to be taking any measures to reduce the danger or damage from overhanging branches and trees with regular maintenance.

Do the local authorities, Monmouthshire and Gloucestershire County Councils, or the Highways Authority have any powers for ensuring that preventative work is carried out by the owners of woodland at their expense, I believe after all it is tax deductible!

There have been serious accidents caused by fallen trees, not to mention even fatalities. I look forward to an improvement.
