Sixteen voluntary groups met at the Shire Hall Monday night (19th March), all successful applicants in the Community Grants scheme organised by Monmouth Town Council.

The Community Affairs Committee was pleased to host the lively evening, and Monmouth's mayor Gerry Bright presented the cheques.

Each group was invited to make a brief presentation to the other guests about what it does and how its grant would be spent.

This years community awards were given to:

Homemakers Community Recycling; Rocky Rascals Play Club; Monmouth Civic Society; Shelter Cymru; Monmouth Women's Festival; Abergavenny Eisteddfod; Ross & Monmouth Sea Cadets; Action 50 plus, Monmouth area; Monmouth Cricket Club; Monmouth Group of Parishes; Savoy Youth Theatre; Monmouth Sports Association; Monmouth/ Waldbronn Twinning Association; Caldicot Youth Group for the ATTIK, Monmouth.
