Residents of Raglan have come together to make their village a safer place by voting to become a "Cold Calling Control Zone" in a bid to stop unwanted "rogue traders'.
The initiative was instigated by local resident Shirley Hughes from Rural Community Action, who attended a Gwent Police 'Bogus Callers' conference and heard that this type of trading practice is often a front for other types of crime.
The scheme is a partnership between Monmouthshire County Council Trading Standards, the Usk and Raglan Neighbourhood Policing Team, Gwent Neighbourhood Police, Neighbourhood Watch and Rural Community Action, and is fully supported by Raglan Community Council. Together, they have worked in partnership to set up a 'Cold Calling Control Zone', which will cover the whole of the village of Raglan.
