A young Monmouth woman is determined to raise £25,000 for the Army Benevolent Fund.
And, she has decided to do a sponsored tandem skydrive with the Red Devils in Nottingham in September.
"I have Multiple Sclerosis and I am absolutely terrified of heights, so this certainly will be no picnic for me" said Claire Beaven.
"However, I feel compelled to show support for the dedicated and brave young lads and lasses in Iraq and Afghanistan who risk their lives in the name of world peace".
She said she was determined to do something that would take her out of her comfort zone "as there must be times that the soldiers feel the fear out there and still manage the quest to keep the world safe and our country safe, to serve and protect".
Claire said her aim was to raise £25,000 for the Army Benevolent Fund to show our support and appreciation of what they are doing to keep world peace.
"I have set up a page which will stay active until at least December at the website http://www.justgiving.com/clairebeaven">www.justgiving.com/clairebeaven for donations".
She said no one had any idea the length of the war in Afghanistan and how many more of our lads would be killed, so they really do need our support.
Claire revealed that one of the letters of appreciation she had received was from a young lad, who was awarded a medal for bravery for saving his mate's life when he lost his leg in a roadside bomb. "It is due to this bravery that touched my heart to act"
