Thieves broke into Monmouth's St Mary's Church and stole thousands of pounds worth of religious ornaments.

Police in Monmouth are appealing for information following the break-in, which happened overnight between Friday 26th and Saturday 27th November.

Twelve items in total were stolen including christening mugs, chalices and plates.

Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area, or anyone offered the items to buy, to contact them on 01633 838111.
