A CHEPSTOW town councillor is donning his running shoes for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Councillor Benjamin Smith will be taking part in the Severn Bridge Half Marathon and the Wye Not Tri Triathlon this summer. The charity is close to the councillor's heart as his cousin was diagnosed with cancer last year. Cllr Smith said: "Over the past year, Elizabeth has undergone significant chemotherapy treatments and numerous surgical procedures to fight pancreatic cancer and the latest scans suggest that she has won the battle. "I am getting stuck in to the world of sports nutrition since I changed jobs in February. "Elizabeth was fortunately treated by world renowned consultants at The Royal Marsden in London and hopefully the money I will raise will support the fantastic work done at the hospital for other families."
