A 21-YEAR-OLD woman has received a 12-month prison sentence after she admitted multiple thefts from shops in Monmouth.

Tegan Bevan pleaded guilty to six counts of theft from a shop when she appeared for sentencing at Newport Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, February 10.

Bevan, of no fixed abode, also admitted two counts of fraud by false representation and theft from a motor vehicle in the Chepstow area.

PC Laura Jones, the office in the case, said: “Theft, and particularly shoplifting, is not a victimless crime.

“The impact of this type of offending is hugely felt by our communities, and we know it must be exceptionally dispiriting for retailers to be perennially targeted in this way by offenders like Bevan.”
