Monmouth Town's Kingfishers capped a memorable season with a seven-goal salvo to clinch the Third Division title with Elliot Ford outstanding in grabbing four for himself to send the players, management, officials and travelling support into rapture that stubbornly failed to turn up for the rest of the world.

This result was a much safer prediction with Town travelling on the back of a four-game winning run, needing a point to be sure of promotion, all three to stake their championship claim and hope that Newport Civil would fail to win all of their last four games, and this against a side in the bottom three for most of the season.

But Monmouth being Monmouth, you are never quite sure which team turns up.

Would it be the team that had scored 87 goals or the one that conceded 60 plus?
