Shoppers in Monmouth were in for a shock on Sunday morning as a herd of cows wandered through the town.
Eyewitnesses in Iceland said the cows were moo-ching around Agincourt Square among the quiet Sunday morning traffic in an unthreatening manner.
Jacky Goodall, who was working at the Punch House that morning, said: "I pulled back the curtains and there they were.
"Cars could not get by and then one tried to get into Iceland.
"They were there for about 10 minutes and then they turned around and headed off up the road."
The farmer arrived in a matter of minutes and led the cows back down the alleyway from whence they came, onto Vauxhall Fields.
Gwent Police said they attended at 11.04am after a report of cows on Monnow Street.
