Monmouth's Saturday market will be split between two sites after plans for its future were approved by cabinet last week.
The Beacon reported last month how Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) officers were planning to take the market forward by allowing smaller stalls to return to the Shire Hall on a Saturday while the larger stalls remain at Blestium Street car park.
The Friday market will continue to operate at the car park at the bottom end of town, as it has since work started on the Shire Hall in 2008.
At last Wednesday's (20th July) cabinet meeting Councillor Giles Howard, cabinet member for culture and environment, said the debate over where the market should be had polarised opinion in Monmouth.
