The former Angel Hotel building, currently occupied by the furniture retailer Edwards of Monmouth is to be partially converted into a restaurant if the application for change of use is approved.
The proposal is to create a restaurant at ground and first floor levels, maintaining the existing managers accommodation at second and third floor levels.
A bar area is proposed at ground floor level, towards the centre of the southern wing of the premises, giving access to an enclosed courtyard seating area. Glazed sliding/folding doors are proposed to open the bar area to the courtyard. These doors will be installed an existing opening.
Restaurant dining areas are proposed at ground and first floor levels, making use of existing window openings to provide views onto St Mary’s Street and to the enclosed courtyard.
It is envisaged that the premises will be sold or leased to a restaurant operator.
Edwards of Monmouth will continue trading from the premises
