Standards were high at this year's Monmouth's Got Talent contest, which took place on Thursday 6th March at the Blake Theatre, Monmouth.

Pupils from Monmouth Comprehensive, Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls and Monmouth School battled it out to take the title.

Taking the top prize was Crochez-Moi, a band of Monmouth School pupils with two songs, one they wrote themselves.

Monmouth Comprehensive pupils took second and third spots with Daniel Dunmore, a pupil who sang a Michael Bublé number coming second.

In third were Ellen Coombe and Lily Jack, singing and playing the ukelele.

Judges Les Modget, Fern George and Dr Mike England, a director of this year's chosen charity, the RFU Injured Players Foundation, had the hard task of judging the 11 acts, paying a tribute to S Club, whose dance routine whipped the crowd into a frenzy.

The winner will play at this year's Monmouth Festival.
