LAST weekend, one of Wales' worst snorers took part in a unique Snoring Boot Camp.
Chris Longford, from Usk, lined up alongside four other snorers from across the UK and took orders from a leading Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, a professional personal trainer and a diet expert, in an attempt to combat their snoring problem for good.
Chris was put through his paces at the army-style Boot Camp, complete with Sergeant Major and with input from MK Personal Training.
The event took place at the Innkeeper's Lodge at Coleshill.
Chris, who has been a snorer for over 20 years, was driven to apply for the Boot Camp after endless nights of being woken up and told to stop snoring.
Chris, who is 46, commented: "When I got the call to say that I had been selected to take part in the Boot Camp I was really surprised.
"My partner was probably more pleased than I am, she will be over the moon if the Boot Camp cures my snoring. I went into the weekend with an open mind and plan to use all of the information and advice that is provided by the specialists."
Graham Carr-Smith of Helps Stop Snoring said: "Snoring is a problem that afflicts nearly 15 million adults in the UK alone and can have serious implications for both health and relationships.
"We received hundreds of nominations and applications for the Boot Camp and by taking into consideration factors such as lifestyle and snoring history, we selected our final five candidates.
"The main aim of the Boot Camp was to provide as much advice and information as possible to the selected snorers and their families, helping them to reduce or stop the problem altogether. Every case is different and we focused on each of these areas to help our snorers."
On the Friday night the decibel monitors recorded that the combined sound of the five snorers reached the same noise levels as that of a jet engine!
