We may only be a matter of days into 2014 but the Beacon is looking ahead to 2015 and the launch of our first charity calendar – but we need your help.

Throughout this year we are working with The Prince's Countryside Fund (PCF) – you may have noticed the charity's logo in our masthead – to raise awareness of its work with farmers and rural businesses.

It is hoped the PCF will be joining the Beacon at this summer's Monmouthshire Show and there are other fundraising events planned for the next 12 months.

But why should it end there?

Producing a calendar is not only a great way of raising more funds for a deserving cause but gives us – and you – the chance to celebrate the glorious Monmouthshire countryside.

We want you to share with us your pictures of our beautiful rural county. 12 of them will feature in our 2015 calendar.

It may be a stunning landscape picture, it could be a farmer at work in his field or the traditional sight of the hunt – the choice is yours.

Pictures should be 300dpi and at least 148mm in height and width. You have until Friday 26th September to get your entries in, but why not get snapping straight away and capture some beautiful winter scenes?
